On Wednesday, April 24, young minds got a jolt of energy when COSI (Center of Science and Industry) brought its traveling science program, Investigating Energy, to Immaculate Conception School in Port Clinton for a day of learning.
Investigating Energy is one of six traveling science demonstrations from COSI.
The day began with a 45-minute interactive assembly where COSI’s Dr. Kilowatt used different renewable and nonrenewable resources to power a new invention. This was followed by hands-on activity sessions during which students tested conductors, built circuits, and compared the energy usage of household appliances. The classes then went to the gymnasium to build, create and explore. This COSI On Wheels program aligns with Ohio Academic Content Standards, and allowed ICS students to learn about energy conservation and pollution through scientific experimentation.
COSI is a hands-on science center located in Columbus, Ohio. Each year more than 350,000 students participate in one of the COSI On Wheels programs.
